Flora’s Pet Project – Good Info, Good Cause

Posted by admin on Oct 6, 2009 in All, Local Concerns, Naugatuck

Flora’s Pet Project, founded in 1999, pays for spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and disease testing for every pet in its care. Working with a network of foster homes and Poodle Rescue Connecticut, Inc. we provide care for homeless dogs and cats, including those who are ill, elderly or injured and who would otherwise be euthanized if left in a public shelter facility.

I need a good home.

I need a good home.

We also purchase items such as collars, leashes, identification tags, special diets–whatever is needed to keep the pets comfortable, happy and healthy while they wait for new homes. We have no source of income other than donations, but we are a strictly volunteer organization with no overhead–every penny donated directly benefits the pets…

NHL 10 by EA SPORTS – Great Game or Moral Dilemma?

Posted by admin on Oct 3, 2009 in All, Gaming, Sports

I am not a huge NHL fan, however I appreciate the grace, beauty, and strength of this sport. That being said I love gaming, and sports gaming is one of my tops interests. The EA NHL series has always been the top hockey gaming experience since its inception, and this year is no different.

I went to check out the following video and was quite interested to see that EA took the time to detail fighting this year, and they did this with a brutal sense of realism. I have had this conversation with friends at work regarding the need for fighting in the sport, and I think most agreed that while it is a “heat of the moment” action, it has been reduced greatly in the past 10 years to make the game a more mainline and palatable sport for the general viewing public.

Has that effected Hockey in an adverse manner? Do the purists look for the unfettered play, or the goon that will come in to save the star player?

One of my friends came up with an interesting thought, and this fellow (can I use the word “fellow” while talking about hockey), breathes, sleeps, and eats hockey as his main diet had the following thought.

(If you are squemish when it come to fisticuffs do not watch the following video)

When you have to put an enforcer on a line to protect the star player. you have just reduced the overall scoring ability to that line because of the reduction in speed, handling, and shooting skills. I never thought about that perspective.

Enjoy the video below, and let me know what your thoughts are on this subject.
